Child safety standards

Hailmo, run by Respiresoft LLC, is for people aged 16 and over. We do not allow child sexual abuse or exploitation. This page says what we ban, how to report, what we do about a report, and what we can and cannot see. It matches how the app works today.

What we do not allow

  • Any sexual content involving a child, or sexualising a child, in any form, including drawings and images made with AI. This is the same in public and in private.
  • Grooming, sexual messages to a person we know or suspect is under 18, asking a young person for images, sextortion and trafficking.
  • Sharing or asking for private sexual images of anyone without their consent.
  • Accounts of people under 16, and business accounts or the AI assistant for people under 18.

How to report

  • In the app: open the message, person, group, channel, business or sticker pack, choose Report and pick Child safety. We handle child safety reports before all others.
  • By email: write to support@respiresoft.com. Tell us what you saw and where. Do not send the images by email; say where they are and we will find them.
  • If a child is in danger now, call your local emergency number first. You can also report child sexual abuse material to your national hotline or to the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at report.cybertip.org.

What we do when you report

  • A person on our team reads the report.
  • We aim to act on child safety reports within 24 hours.
  • If a report shows content that looks like child sexual abuse material, we close the account and report it as the law requires. We cooperate with authorities where the law requires; see Government requests.
  • We tell the person we acted against what we did, why, and how to appeal, except where telling them could put a child at risk or the law forbids it. They can appeal within 14 days.

What we can and cannot see

  • Chats and calls between people are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read them and we do not scan them.
  • When you report a message from such a chat, your phone sends us a copy of the messages you are reporting, because we cannot read them ourselves.
  • We can act on things that are not end-to-end encrypted: channels, business listings, profile names and photos, sticker packs, status updates, group names and pictures, and account information.
  • We cannot remove a message from another person's phone. We can close the account that sent it.
  • So a report from a person in a chat matters. Please report.

Who can use Hailmo

  • You must be at least 16 to have an account, or older if the law of your country requires it. Business accounts and the AI assistant are for people aged 18 or older.
  • Hailmo is not made for children and is not designed to appeal to them.
  • When you sign up we ask for your date of birth and you confirm it is true. We do not store the date. We keep whether you are 18 yet and, for 16 and 17 year olds, the month you turn 18.
  • If we learn that an account belongs to someone who is not allowed to use Hailmo, we close it.

Who can reach you

  • Group admins choose who can post in a group and who can add members.
  • You choose who can add you to groups: everyone, my contacts or nobody.
  • Anyone who has your username or link can message you, and you can block them.
