Government and legal requests
Hailmo is run by Respiresoft LLC, a company in Wyoming, United States. This page says how a court or an authority can send us a request, and what we can and cannot give.
How to send a request
- Send it to support@respiresoft.com, in English, marked "legal request".
- We need a request that is valid under US law or, for another country, a route that US law allows, such as a mutual legal assistance request or a court order we can honour.
- We read each request, ask for more if it is vague, and say no to a request that is too broad or not valid.
Emergencies
If a request says a person is in danger of death or serious harm, we can act faster. It must still identify the account and the danger.
Orders to remove content
Send them to the same address, marked "removal order". We cooperate with authorities where the law requires.
What we may hold
- The email address and phone number on an account, the display name and username, and when the account was made and last used.
- Device details and the internet addresses of devices. Addresses are deleted 30 days after a device was last used.
- Group and channel membership, sticker packs and public channel posts.
- A business listing, and the chats and orders a business keeps online.
- What a person sent us in a report.
What we do not have
- The content of chats and calls between people. They are end-to-end encrypted and we cannot read them. A message not yet delivered is held only in sealed form, and deleted after delivery or after 30 days.
- Chat backups. The backup file is in the person's own Google Drive or iCloud. We do keep a copy of the key to it, as the Privacy policy says.
Telling the account holder
We tell the account holder about a request unless the law forbids it, it is an emergency, or telling them could put a child or another person at risk.
